Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) helps create a way for the body and mind to come together and heal…And emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and well being, no matter how devoted you are to creating a balanced life through diet, exercise and lifestyle, achieving your body’s ideal healing point is not possible if emotional barriers stand in your way.

EFT is a form of psychological acupuncture and is based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture. Tapping send a message to the Hippocampus, an area in your brain and allows a Somatic response to be released. By doing simple tapping with the fingertips onto specific meridians on the body while you think about your specific problem – whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, panic attacks, attention deficit disorder, hypertension, social anxiety or career issues whilst using voice positive affirmations you may be able to experience relief.

Scientifically EFT is now being shown as a process to reduce our ability to get emotionally hijacked and induce epigenetic changes that can stimulate neural repair, increase immune response, improve memory and learning. This is so exciting and is an impressive explanation for why EFT has shown such strong side effects in a wide variety of conditions in over 64 published scientific papers.

Disclaimer: While EFT has produced remarkable results, it must still be considered an experimental technology. By utilising any of the tools or strategies when working with Mell Symonds Counselling & Holistic Therapies, you agree to take complete responsibility for your mental health and for your emotional and physical well- being in every way. Please remember that EFT and Energy Therapies in general are never a replacement for medical care. If you feel that you have a concern that needs medical attention, please do not hesitate to contact your healthcare provider.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

It is quite normal to feel ambivalent about therapy. I believe that therapy works, when you find the right therapist, who can connect with you and help you connect better with others as well. When you find a therapist who can listen carefully with care to what you are saying and help you connect with your inner truth, yet challenge your unconscious self-limiting beliefs you have found the recipe for real change and transformation.
